Rathaus Meißen

This late Gothic town hall features a steep saddle roof with blind gables and three symmetrically arranged dormer houses facing the market square.

Built between 1472 and 1480 under the direction of Arnold von Westfalen, this structure represents one of the most significant examples of late Gothic civic architecture in Saxony.

The building serves as a cultural heritage monument and stands as the only remaining secular civic structure that maintains its prominence alongside religious buildings in the cityscape.

The town hall houses the city administration offices across three departments, including the mayor's office, financial administration, building supervision, and various municipal services for residents.

The building contains a council chamber with an unusually spacious design for its era, featuring a beam ceiling supported by three stone columns dating from the late 15th century.
