Technikmuseum Kratzmühle

The Technikmuseum Kratzmühle is a technical museum and watermill in Beilngries offering approximately 1000 square meters of exhibition space. The collection displays machinery, vehicles, and tools that document technological development across several centuries.

The mill itself began as an industrial facility for harnessing water power and was later converted into a museum. A functioning water turbine-generator from 1928 demonstrates how the facility was equipped with modern technology.

The museum displays traditional crafts such as shoemaking, tailoring, and blade forging through dedicated workshop areas. Visitors can see authentic tools and how these trades were actually practiced in past times.

The museum is accessible during the warmer months, and you will find the best visiting times on weekends when longer opening hours are available. The exhibition is manageable in scale and can be viewed in roughly 1 to 2 hours.

The collection includes a rare selection of medical instruments from different periods, including field surgery tools. This unusual complement to the technical exhibits reveals how closely craft and medical knowledge were intertwined in earlier times.
