The Protestant Church Späningen is a late Romanesque fieldstone hall church with a recessed square choir and a west transverse tower, built in the second half of the 13th century; its bell storey is late Gothic. Original round-arched windows and the priest's door survive, while the south portal is walled up and other openings were enlarged in the Baroque period. Inside, the flat ceiling and round triumphal arch frame a pulpit altar from the mid-17th century.

Built in the second half of the 13th century as a late Romanesque fieldstone church, it has a recessed square choir and a west transverse tower whose bell storey was added in the late Gothic period. The west portal dates from an 1863 restoration, and the pulpit altar was made in the mid-17th century.

The pulpit altar from the mid-17th century is framed by twisted columns with vine tendrils and a door crown bearing the coat of arms of the von Bartensleben family. The west gallery, built in the second half of the 17th century, carries painted medallions of scenes from the life of Christ, from the Nativity to the Last Judgement.

The building is open during regular worship times and can be visited with prior notice to the local congregation. It helps to plan a visit around scheduled services or contact the church in advance to ensure access.

The churchyard portal with its pointed arch and recessed niches dates from the early 16th century, older than the west portal added in the 1863 restoration. Inside, a bronze bell cast by Heinrich Cramer of Salzwedel in 1722 still hangs in the late Gothic bell storey.
