Flörsheimer Warte, Medieval watchtower in Flörsheim am Main, Germany.
Flörsheimer Warte is a cylindrical stone tower with a pointed roof standing among the vineyards of the Regionalpark Rhein-Main. The building now houses a restaurant serving regional cuisine and wines from the surrounding area.
The tower was built in the 15th century by Archbishop Berthold von Henneberg as part of the Kasteler Landwehr defense system protecting the Rhine. The current structure is a reconstruction completed in 1996, while the original foundations remain preserved below ground for archaeological study.
The tower serves as a gathering place for wine festivals and regional celebrations where visitors experience the area's living connection to its past. Local communities use this space to showcase their traditions and passion for viticulture.
The tower is accessible daily and offers views across the vineyard landscape from its height. Its location at the edge of the vineyards makes it a good starting point for walks through the surrounding wine region.
The current structure stands about 50 meters northeast of the original foundations, which remain preserved below ground for archaeological research. This allows visitors to stand at a location that connects continuous history from medieval times to today.
