ABC-Bogen, Office building in Neustadt, Hamburg, Germany
ABC-Bogen is an office building in Hamburg's Neustadt neighborhood composed of two linked sections. An eight-story front wing and eleven-story rear section reaching 40 meters tall contain retail shops on the ground floor and feature curved glass and metal facades that catch light throughout the day.
The site once held Hamburg's State Archives, which relocated due to damage before construction started in 1998. The new building then rose on this former institutional ground and reshaped the area.
The structure takes its name from its distinctive curved footprint and shapes how this neighborhood looks. The flowing form brings together the surrounding buildings into one cohesive streetscape.
The building sits centrally with three subway stations within easy walking distance, making arrival straightforward. Ground floor spaces are open to visitors and contain shops and cafes for browsing and refreshment.
The eleven-story rear section earns the playful nickname 'Lemon' from locals due to its half-circle shape. This informal name reflects how residents embrace the building's distinctive curved design in daily conversation.
