St.-Nicolai-et-St.-Martini-Kirche

The St Nicolai and St Martini Church features a wooden bell tower standing at 47 meters high, separate from the main brick building structure.

First mentioned in 1332, the church underwent a transformation from 1687 to 1785, converting the original stone structure into a baroque hall design.

The bronze sculpture next to the church depicts monk Heinrich, representing Dutch colonists who began cultivating the area in the 13th century.

The church maintains its function as a religious center while preserving the Arp Schnitger organ, constructed in 1687, for musical performances.

The building contains one of the largest organs in the Old Land region, crafted by renowned organ builder Arp Schnitger in the 17th century.
