Kellereigasse 2, Timber-framed farmhouse complex on the Großer Markt in Heppenheim, Hesse, Germany

Kellereigasse 2 is a two-storey timber-framed farmstead of around 1720, made of two gabled buildings joined by a connecting wing. The western part was later rebuilt in masonry and set back about a metre, so its upper floor overhangs. The ground floor is plastered, while the upper storeys show ornamental timber framing of the first half of the 18th century, with dark red-brown beams forming crosses, diagonals and horizontal bands against pale plaster; a golden figure projects from a corner post on the left of the facade, and a sign reads "Kellereigasse 2".

The complex was built around 1720 and is listed as a cultural monument under number 30562 in Heppenheim's register. It stood empty for almost four years from 2012 until Sebastian Vettel bought it in September 2016. He sold the property to an investor from Bensheim at the end of February 2021.

The name Kellereigasse recalls the cellars of the prince-electors' administration; the house stands directly on the Großen Markt beside the Goldener Engel inn and opposite the Villa Boddin. On the facade, a gilded figure projects from a corner post, and the sign "Kellereigasse 2" is mounted on the left wall.

Kellereigasse 2 stands directly on the Großen Markt, beside the Hotel-Restaurant Goldener Engel and facing the Hotel Villa Boddin, so the square is reached on foot from the surrounding old town. The west part of the complex was set back about a metre, leaving the upper storey overhanging the street.

The property was owned by Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel between 2016 and 2021 before being sold to an investor. This ownership brought unexpected public attention to the historical structure.
