The Galerie am Blauen Wunder occupies a heritage-protected building on Pillnitzer Landstraße, designed by architect Theodor Lehnert in Dresden's Loschwitz district.
Ulrike Dagen and Gunter Ziller established the gallery in September 1991, with Ziller continuing as sole director from 1998 until its closure in 2016.
The gallery presented 143 exhibitions focusing on modern artists, including significant Dresden artists Hermann Glöckner and HAP Grieshaber.
Visitors can reach the gallery location via bus lines 61, 63, 84, and 309, stopping at Körnerplatz station near the Blue Wonder Bridge.
The gallery's final exhibition featured works by Klaus Dennhardt, marking the end of its 25-year contribution to Dresden's art scene.
