Palais von Hausen, Baroque palace in Lorsch, Germany
Palais von Hausen is a three-story building from the late 18th century in Lorsch with a rectangular floor plan and mansard roof. The central projection with three axes divides the facade, while sliding windows mark all floors.
Architect G. Günther erected the building between 1775 and 1779 for chief forester Carl Wolfgang Joseph von Hausen. From 1868 to 1920 the property was used as a cigar factory before being renovated later.
The name recalls Carl Wolfgang Joseph von Hausen, who worked here as chief forester and used the building as his residence. Today the structure hosts weddings and conferences, with the historic rooms maintaining their formal character.
The renovated property now serves as a venue with several rooms, including the Freiherren Hall for weddings. Two salons are available for business gatherings, making the place suitable for different occasions.
A large vaulted cellar extends beneath the building and provides additional space away from the main floors. A wide staircase dominates the interior and connects the floors with a generosity uncommon for the region.
