Nietzsche-Denkmal

The Nietzsche memorial on Holzmarkt square features a bronze figure of a philosopher seated in a chair holding an open book, while a young girl stands before him in an inquisitive pose. The two-figure composition rests on a sandstone base equipped with an information plaque for visitors.

The monument was unveiled in 2007, replacing the location of a previous fountain built in 1978 for Naumburg's 950th anniversary celebration. Sculptor Heinrich Apel created this bronze work to honor the philosopher who was born in the city.
