Schloss Klosterhäseler

Schloss Klosterhäseler is a former monastery complex that now functions as a castle, featuring a distinctive octagonal stair tower on its southern side and multiple buildings arranged around an elongated central structure. The grounds have been restored and now house residential apartments, event spaces, and a winery within its historical walls.

The site was founded in 1239 as a Cistercian convent and was transformed into a castle around 1540 after the monastery's closure. This repurposing shows how secular powers reshaped religious sites following the Reformation.

The organ collection in the crypt tells the story of regional instrument making and shows craft traditions passed down through generations. Visitors can see how these instruments were built differently and what role they played in monastic life.

The castle is accessible to visitors on various occasions, particularly during events and special openings that are worth checking in advance. The location in Klosterhäseler is easy to reach by car, and the exterior grounds can be viewed from An der Poststraße on foot.

A Gothic crypt from the early 14th century lies beneath the castle and still preserves original architectural elements from the monastic period. This hidden sanctuary beneath the modern living spaces reveals the deep historical layers of the site.
