Rosskastanien Marschnerstraße, Tree row natural monument in Johannstadt, Dresden, Germany.
The Rosskastanien Marschnerstraße is a row of horse chestnut trees lining the east side of the southern section of Marschnerstraße in Johannstadt. The trees display yellow and red flowers in spring and create a natural green band along this urban street.
The tree row received protection status from Dresden City Council on 10 June 1999 due to its rarity in Germany. This designation recognized its importance as a remarkable natural element within the urban landscape.
These North American native trees form an essential part of Dresden's urban landscape, creating a natural barrier between the sidewalk and the street near the StraßBURG residential block.
The trees line the east side of the southern stretch of Marschnerstraße and are easily accessible on foot. This area is well visible from the street and offers a pleasant spot for a walk along the road.
This tree row is the only one in Germany combining both yellow-flowering and red-flowering species in a single street planting. This botanical feature is what made it worthy of protected status and sets it apart from other urban tree rows.
