Lornsenschule, Secondary school and heritage monument in Schleswig, Germany
Lornsenschule is a neobaroque school building located on Michaelisallee with exposed brick walls and plaster details, constructed between 1906 and 1909 following architect Hans Schnittger's designs. The structure now houses a gymnasium offering a range of subjects and learning spaces for students.
The institution was founded in 1863 as a girls' school through the combination of four private educational institutions. It received its current name in 1922 in honor of Uwe Jens Lornsen, a notable regional figure.
The school maintains an active music education program with multiple choirs, bands, and mandatory participation in music activities for students pursuing musical studies.
The school provides homework assistance and morning and afternoon care services, with students able to use the MensaMax system for cafeteria meal orders. Visitors should check in advance about access times and arrangements, as this is an active school facility in daily operation.
The school acquired a holiday home called Seeberg in Kleinwaabs in 1925, which was used for student activities and community programs. This country property provided space for learning experiences beyond the classroom and strengthened bonds among the school community.
