Wälder der Hüttener Berge

The Wälder der Hüttener Berge is a protected area that extends across six municipalities and connects various habitats. The terrain includes forest areas, meadows, and lakes along with small hills in an interconnected landscape.

The area was placed under protection in 2004 to preserve the landforms shaped by ice age glaciers thousands of years ago. These geological formations continue to define the region's appearance today.

The forests serve as a recreation space for people from the region who come here to walk and observe nature. Many visitors use the open meadow areas and forest edges to escape their daily routines.

Several marked hiking trails run through the protected area and allow visitors to explore the different landscapes. Information boards in the individual municipalities help with orientation and provide insights into the nature.

The area contains several elevations, with the Scheelsberg at approximately 106 meters being the highest in this region of Schleswig-Holstein. This height offers expansive views across the surrounding forest and lake landscape from above.
