Wilhelmshaven LNG Terminal

The Wilhelmshaven LNG Terminal processes liquefied natural gas through a floating storage and regasification unit, converting it back to gas for distribution across Germany.

Initiated in response to energy supply challenges in 2022, the terminal marked Germany's first floating LNG facility and commenced operations on December 17, 2022.

The terminal represents Germany's commitment to energy independence and infrastructure modernization, supporting the national transition toward alternative energy sources.

Located at coordinates 53.641667, 8.108889, the terminal supplies natural gas to approximately 50,000 German households and meets 6% of the country's gas demand.

The facility incorporates specialized monitoring systems to maintain water quality and protect marine life in the North Sea and adjacent Wadden Sea National Park.
