Kapbuschsee

Kapbuschsee is a lake in Hückelhoven that was formed when sand and gravel were extracted from the area. The water body features sandy beach areas suitable for swimming and recreational facilities along its edges.

The lake appeared in the 20th century as a result of sand and gravel mining operations in the Heinsberg district. What was once an extraction site transformed into a recreational area for the surrounding region.

The lake serves as a central meeting place for the local community where people gather to spend free time and enjoy water activities together. Seasonal events held here bring neighbors together and create a sense of shared leisure culture.

Visit during the warmer months from May through September when all facilities are fully operational for swimming and beach activities. Showers, restrooms, and a snack area are available near the shore, along with space for sports like beach volleyball.

The northern part of the lake sits within a large nature reserve surrounded by forests and farmland. This area demonstrates how an old industrial extraction zone transformed into a habitat for wildlife.
