Petralona cave, Show cave in Chalkidiki, Greece

The limestone cave extends across 10,000 square meters through multiple chambers decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, and mineral formations.

In 1959, local shepherd Philippos Chatzaridis discovered the cave, leading to excavations that revealed stone tools from the Paleolithic period.

The cave contains one of the oldest and most complete human skulls found in Europe, dated to approximately 700,000 years ago.

Guided tours of the cave last 30 minutes and include access to exhibits displaying archaeological findings and prehistoric animal fossils.

Scientists identified remains of more than 50 different animal species within the cave, including extinct bears, hyenas, lions, and panthers.
