Servia's High Bridge, Road bridge in Kozani region, Greece
Servia's High Bridge is a road bridge in the Kozani region that spans Lake Polyphytos for 1372 meters. It rises approximately 55 meters above the water level and links multiple areas across northern Greece.
Italian engineer Riccardo Morandi designed the structure between 1972 and 1975. It was officially opened on November 6, 1976, as a major infrastructure project for Greece.
The bridge represents a significant engineering achievement in Greek infrastructure, connecting communities across the Kozani region and Lake Polyphytos.
Traffic is limited to a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour, and only vehicles weighing less than 50 tons are permitted. Drivers should plan accordingly and be aware of these restrictions.
The bridge was built before Lake Polyphytos was formed and uses 27 large water-filled columns for stability. This innovative design system was created specifically to support the structure on its foundation.
