Le Havre is a major port located on the right bank of the estuary of the river Seine.
The city was severely bombed during the Battle of Normandy in World War II.
It is noted for its modernist architecture, having been rebuilt by Auguste Perret after being destroyed in WW2.

Le Havre is the only French town to have its post-war architecture listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
