The Élysée Palace is the official residence of the President of the French Republic, where the president's office is located, and the Council of Ministers meets.
Built in 1722, the palace has been the official residence of the French President since 1848.
The palace is a symbol of the Presidency and an important venue for state affairs and diplomatic activities.
It is not open to the public except on special occasions such as Heritage Days.
The palace has its own wine cellar with about 12,000 bottles, mainly French wines.
