La Treille, Administrative quarter in 11th arrondissement, Marseille, France

La Treille stands on the outskirts of Marseille, featuring a 17th-century hillside village with stone houses and narrow streets at its center.

The settlement began in 1475 when Pierre Paul from Liguria married Catherine Sicard and established his family in this area of Marseille.

The village cemetery contains the grave of French writer Marcel Pagnol, who depicted the area in his novels and films about Provence.

Residents can access the village through Marseille's public transportation system or from the neighboring town of Aubagne.

The fountain in the main square next to the church appeared in the 1953 film adaptation of Manon des Sources.
