Gif-sur-Yvette

Gif-sur-Yvette is a commune in the Vallée de Chevreuse where the Yvette River flows through a mix of residential neighborhoods and forested areas. The terrain varies with both older and newer houses scattered among green spaces.

People settled here during the Neolithic period, and later a Benedictine monastery was founded that lasted until the 18th century. This religious center shaped the region for centuries before disappearing.

The Church of Saint-Rémi shapes the village with its mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, showing how deeply rooted the settlement is. You can walk through and observe how this building anchors the local identity.
