Gare de Toulouse-Matabiau, Railway station in central Toulouse, France
The station structure extends across multiple levels, featuring a stone facade with 26 regional coats of arms decorating its main entrance.
Originally opened in 1856 and reconstructed between 1903 and 1905 under architect Marius Toudoire using stone materials from the Roman city of Saintes.
The name Matabiau originates from the Latin term mata-bios, referring to the location where Saint Saturnin faced martyrdom with a bull.
The facility connects to eleven platforms through various passageways, with elevators serving platforms 8-11 and direct access to the Toulouse Metro system.
The station processes nearly 10 million travelers annually while operating routes on four major railway lines including the Bordeaux-Sète and Toulouse-Bayonne connections.
