Mers-les-Bains, Seaside resort in Somme, France
The coastal town features nearly 500 villas displaying Art Nouveau and Art Deco architectural elements along its pebbled beach against chalk cliffs.
Starting as a fishing village, the town transformed into a resort destination in 1869 when architects began constructing decorative villas for wealthy visitors.
The annual Fête des Baigneurs celebration brings residents together to showcase period costumes and traditions from the early days of sea bathing.
The beach front fills with 600 wooden cabins from May to October, providing seasonal storage and changing facilities for beach activities.
The Notre-Dame de la Falaise statue, measuring 7 meters tall, stands atop the cliffs since 1878 and served as an aviation reference point.
