The initial climb of Aiguille du Chardonnet occurred on August 1st, 1879, with Percy Thomas, Josef Imboden, and Josef Marie Lochmatter reaching the summit.

The mountain forms part of the Mont Blanc massif, a cornerstone of French mountaineering tradition and training ground for alpine expeditions.

Climbers can access the mountain through the Cabane Albert Premier from France or via the Cabane de Trient from the Swiss approach.

The mountain features multiple technical routes, including the Forbes ridge and Eperon Migot, with granite formations that require advanced climbing skills.
