Institute of Our Lady of Life

The Institute of Our Lady of Life in Venasque contains three separate branches operating independently from one another. Each branch maintains its own facilities and programs focused on spiritual education and religious formation.

Marie-Eugène de l'Enfant-Jésus founded this institution in 1932, and it gained official church recognition in 1950 as a secular institute. A dedicated branch for priests was added later to support clergy in their spiritual growth.

The community follows Carmelite traditions while members continue their regular work and responsibilities in the world. Visitors notice how this way of living shapes the buildings and spaces, where prayer and daily life coexist.

The site offers retreat spaces and training programs for visitors with different backgrounds throughout the year. Visitors should approach respectfully and with sensitivity, as this is an active religious community.

The priestly branch, established in 1964, allows diocesan priests to combine their daily ministry with structured spiritual training. This happens through specialized houses where priests have dedicated time for silent prayer and reflection.
