Mirande

Mirande is a French commune positioned between the Garonne River and the Pyrenees, with a 15th-century cathedral rising above its medieval core. Its original urban layout centers on a plaza ringed by traditional arcades that frame the town square.

The town was founded in the 13th century as a bastide, a planned settlement built during that era. Its original street grid and plaza layout remain intact from its founding period.

The Monday markets showcase producers selling Gascon specialties like duck breast and foie gras alongside traditional pastries. These gatherings reflect how local food traditions remain central to community life.

The town has local facilities including a water park and sits about 20 kilometers southwest of the nearby city of Auch. The relatively flat surroundings make it easy to navigate on foot while good road connections serve those arriving by car.
