Jardin d'agronomie tropicale, Tropical garden and research center in Bois de Vincennes, France

The Jardin d'agronomie tropicale is a botanical park in Bois de Vincennes with sections for Asian and African plants and historical buildings from the late 1800s. The space is divided into different zones that show various tropical environments and their traditional structures.

The garden was created in 1899 as a research center for tropical agriculture to study plants and farming methods from distant regions. It later became the setting for the Colonial Exhibition of 1907, when it shared its collections and knowledge with the public.

The site displays structures from different cultures, including a Vietnamese temple and a Tunisian house that still stand today. These buildings tell the story of how people once imagined and represented distant lands in their own city.

The site is located in Bois de Vincennes in southeastern Paris and is easily reached by public transport. Visitors should allow time to walk through all the different areas, as the garden spreads across multiple zones with different features.

A glass greenhouse from the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition still stands on the grounds and is used for plant research today. This metal and glass building shows the engineering skill of that era and houses plants that have grown there for over a century.
