Rouffignac Cave, Prehistoric cave in France
Rouffignac Cave is a large cavern and archeological site located in the Dordogne area of France.
The cave gallery, often referred to as 'Mammoth's Mews', is renowned for its prehistoric engravings and drawings dating back to the Upper Paleolithic period.
Imprinted into this place are countless handprints from Cro-Magnons, suggesting spiritual significance.
Visitors can journey through the cave on an electric train, providing an accessible way for all ages to admire the prehistoric artwork.
It remains one of the last caves with prehistoric art still open to the public.
