Inaugurated in 1989 as part of President François Mitterrand's 'Grands Travaux', it became the main facility of the Paris National Opera.
Known for its excellent acoustics and modern facilities, it plays a significant role in French culture and performing arts.
With a seating capacity of around 2,700, it is one of the largest opera houses in Europe.
Unlike traditional opera houses, the Opéra Bastille's exterior is characterized by its transparent glass walls.
