Château de Libouriac

The castle exhibits eclectic architecture, combining neo-gothic and neo-renaissance elements, with a spacious hall featuring a floor gallery and a staircase lit by stained glass.

The current structure, built between 1883 and 1885 by architect Louis Garros, replaced an older castle that belonged to the Gayon family and Dom Bédos de Celles family.

The castle represents the architectural preferences of 19th-century French bourgeoisie, with its grand design reflecting the wine-growing wealth of the Gaujal and Lagarrigue families.

The entire property, including the castle, chapel, outbuildings, and park, received historical monument status on December 12, 1995, and remains in private ownership.

The castle achieved energy independence shortly after construction through its own electricity production system, a notable technological advancement for the 1880s.
