Porte de Mars, Roman triumphal arch in Reims, France
The Porte de Mars spans 32 meters in length and reaches 13 meters in height, featuring three substantial arched passages with detailed carvings on its exterior walls.
Built during the third century, this structure served as one of four original gates that provided entry into Durocortorum, the Roman name for present-day Reims.
The arch displays intricate carvings depicting Roman mythology, including representations of Romulus, Remus, and agricultural workers from the Gallo-Roman period.
The monument stands near the center of Reims, with information panels explaining its architecture and historical significance to visitors throughout the year.
