Piquecos

Piquecos is a small commune in Tarn-et-Garonne that sits at 129 meters elevation, offering views across the Aveyron valley and toward the Montauban plain. The village is defined by a notable castle that reflects centuries of local architectural tradition.

The commune emerged in medieval times and was shaped by the development of the local castle, which served successive generations of inhabitants. This structure documents the long settlement history and how the rural landscape changed through the centuries.

A ford built in 1983 seasonally crosses the water and connects two sections of the commune while remaining passable for only about ten months a year. This crossing houses a specialized fish passage system that allows aquatic movement while also serving as a base for summer kayaking outings.
