Saint-Jacques Tower, Gothic tower in 4th arrondissement, France

The Saint-Jacques Tower rises 54 meters high, featuring intricate limestone sculptures and an octagonal base with a bell chamber at its summit.

Built between 1509 and 1523, this tower remained standing when the Church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie was demolished during the French Revolution in 1797.

The tower marks an important stop on the Way of Saint James pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and holds UNESCO World Heritage status.

The tower welcomes visitors from Friday to Sunday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with guided tours explaining its architectural features.

The base of the tower displays a statue of Blaise Pascal, who conducted atmospheric pressure experiments at this location in the 17th century.
