Saint-Jean-de-Montmartre, Gothic Revival church in Montmartre, Paris, France.

Saint-Jean-de-Montmartre stands at 19 Rue des Abbesses, featuring a brick and ceramic tile exterior with reinforced concrete structural elements throughout the building.

Construction began in 1894 under architect Anatole de Baudot, marking a revolutionary step as the first religious building in France built with reinforced concrete.

The interior contains numerous Art Nouveau stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes, along with paintings by Eugene Thierry decorating the outer aisles.

Located at the foot of Montmartre hill, the church opens daily and provides regular Catholic services at 19 Rue des Abbesses in the 18th arrondissement.

The building combines wire-reinforced perforated brickwork with a cement framework, demonstrating an engineering method that increased strength while reducing construction costs.

It is different from the religious buildings we know, but it deserves a visit (free) to learn about its history.
