Museum of Eroticism, Sex museum in Pigalle district, Paris, France.
The Museum of Eroticism was an art museum housed in a former cabaret building with seven floors of exhibitions. Its collection spanned ancient artifacts from India, Japan, and Africa alongside modern artistic works exploring human sexuality.
The museum opened in 1997 within a former Pigalle cabaret venue and operated for nearly two decades. It closed in 2016 when the building's owner chose not to renew the lease agreement.
The collection included a dedicated floor about maisons closes, the regulated brothels that operated in Paris until their closure in 1946.
The venue was located on Boulevard de Clichy near Blanche metro station with direct access to several bus routes. The neighborhood had good public transit connections throughout Paris.
The museum screened Polisson et galipettes, a collection of early 20th-century black and white erotic silent films from former Parisian brothels.
