Palais Brongniart, Neoclassical convention center in 2nd arrondissement of Paris, France
The Palais Brongniart is a neoclassical building in Paris's 2nd arrondissement surrounded by a large colonnade of Corinthian columns. Inside, a vaulted central chamber features high ceilings and carefully designed architectural details throughout.
Napoleon ordered construction of this building in 1808 to create a dedicated home for the Paris stock exchange. The exchange operated within these walls for about 180 years before relocating in 1987.
The Salon d'Honneur displays the craftsmanship of the 19th century through restored ornaments, paintings, and gilded details visible on its walls. These spaces show how much the stock exchange mattered as a symbol of financial power in society.
The building now serves as an events center with multiple spaces designed for conferences and gatherings of all kinds. The interior layout includes seating areas and functional spaces arranged to accommodate different types of meetings.
The building was completely renovated and modernized while keeping its original neoclassical exterior facade intact. Visitors see the same historical appearance from the outside that existed in Napoleon's time, yet the interior is entirely new.
