Gare de Pierrefonds, Railway station monument in Pierrefonds, France.
Gare de Pierrefonds is a decommissioned railway station in Pierrefonds, France, composed of several separate buildings. The complex includes a main passenger building, a covered platform, restrooms, a lamp room, and a cargo hall arranged around the station grounds.
The station was built in 1883 and opened in January 1884 on the Rethondes to La Ferté-Milon line, connecting Amiens and Dijon. It eventually closed and was later converted into residential space.
The station building displays traditional French railway architecture with dressed stone walls, zinc slate roofing, and decorative elements like ridge tiles and ornamental crests. These design choices reflect the craftsmanship and local building practices typical of late 19th century railway construction.
The site sits at an elevation of about 83 meters and is now used as residential space while preserving the original structures. Access to the grounds may be limited since the complex is partly private property.
The west annex bears the inscription "Pierrefonds-les-Bains" on its brick facade, reflecting an earlier attempt to market the place as a spa resort. This name survives today as a rare clue to ambitious 19th-century planning.
