Château de Bosmelet, 17th century château in Val-de-Scie, France.
Château de Bosmelet is a 17th-century castle in Normandy featuring symmetrical Louis XIII design with a classical entrance hall and grand rooms. The interior includes an 18th-century chapel decorated with a painted altar.
The château was built in 1632 on the foundations of an earlier fortress and later became the residence of the Duke of La Force, who governed Normandy. The Duke also served as tutor to the young Louis XV.
The château displays a collection of dance and opera costumes and stage designs that fill the interior rooms. These pieces bring the world of performing arts directly into the lived spaces of the château.
The château and gardens are open to visitors during specific daytime hours and can be explored at a leisurely pace. Wearing comfortable walking shoes helps when viewing the interior rooms and the grounds.
The park grounds retain World War II remnants such as V1 missile launch tracks and a bunker hidden among the gardens. The oldest feature is a lime tree avenue that spans several hundred years.
