Château d'Yville, 18th-century castle in Yville-sur-Seine, France

The limestone castle stretches 66 feet along its garden facade and incorporates brick elements into its French classical architecture design.

Construction began in 1708 based on François Mansart's plans, with architect Jean-Jacques Martinet completing the project between 1723 and 1735.

The castle grounds contain formal gardens with traditional Norman plant collections including holly, boxwood, lilac, and rose varieties.

Located on the left bank of the Seine River, the castle stands 10 miles southwest of Rouen in the Normandy region.

During World War II, German Panzer divisions used the castle as a military command post, marking a significant period in its history.
