Château de Serrant

Château de Serrant is a Renaissance castle featuring two prominent towers that rise from the main body, arranged with balanced proportions throughout its structure. Large windows pierce the limestone facade, allowing light into the rooms within.

Construction started during François I's reign in 1539 under the direction of builder Péan de Brie. Successive owners made modifications and additions over the following centuries, gradually shaping the structure into its present form.

The library of around 12,000 historical books reflects the intellectual interests of the owners across the centuries. Rooms furnished with period pieces and personal objects show how aristocratic families lived and spent their daily lives.

Guided tours are available from April through November, providing access to the interior spaces and collections. Plan to spend a few hours to fully explore the rooms and grounds at a relaxed pace.

An ebony cabinet inside the castle features hidden drawers and clever mechanisms built into its elegant form. This piece demonstrates the technical skill and craftsmanship of 17th-century artisans.
