Porte d'Italie is a city gate in the 13th arrondissement of Paris located at the intersection of Avenue d'Italie, Boulevard Massena, and Avenue de la Porte d'Italie. The gate marks the southern boundary of this area and faces the neighboring Le Kremlin-Bicêtre.
The gate formed part of the Thiers wall fortifications between bastions 87 and 88 and marked the beginning of Route nationale 7 toward Italy. This wall arose in the 19th century to protect the capital.
The area around the gate hosts many restaurants and shops reflecting the diverse population of the 13th arrondissement. The streets show traces of this mixed neighborhood with its various stores and local gathering points.
