Maison Pfister, Renaissance house in Old Town, Colmar, France
The Pfister House features a two-story corner oriel, wooden gallery, octagonal turret, and painted murals depicting biblical and secular scenes on its facade.
Built in 1537 for Ludwig Scherer, a hatter who accumulated wealth through money trading, the house became the first Renaissance architectural example in Colmar.
The decorated facade combines German Renaissance architectural elements with painted murals that represent both religious and everyday life scenes from the 16th century.
Located at 11 rue des Marchands in Colmar, the exterior of this classified historical monument remains open for viewing throughout the day without entrance fees.
The octagonal turret contains a wooden spiral staircase connecting multiple levels, while astronomical symbols decorate the building's exterior wood carvings.
