The Royal Castle of Collioure stands above the Mediterranean Sea with stone walls extending into the water and multiple defensive towers surrounding its perimeter.
Between 1276 and 1344, the Kings of Majorca used the fortress as their summer residence while expanding the structure and reinforcing its defenses.
The castle contains permanent exhibitions about the Retirada period, documenting the Spanish Republican refugees who found shelter within its walls during 1939.
Visitors can join guided tours twice daily at 10:30 and 14:30, which provide access to areas including the royal apartments and defensive structures.
The castle features an immersive exhibition called Explora that reveals hidden underground galleries and normally inaccessible sections of the fortress.
