Château d'Aulnois d'Aulnois-sur-Seille, Medieval castle in Aulnois-sur-Seille, France
Château d'Aulnois is built across different periods, combining an 18th-century classical main structure with medieval defensive towers. These towers overlook the Seille River valley in the Moselle region and shape the local landscape with their distinctive form.
The castle was rebuilt in 1726 by architect Germain Boffrand for the Count des Armoises, who received the title of Marquis d'Aunoy from Duke Leopold I of Lorraine. This transformation joined medieval structures with Baroque architecture in the service of regional nobility.
The castle houses the École des Armoises primary school where 150 students receive education in a historical setting dating from the 14th century.
The castle is located on Rue du Château and has multipurpose halls for events and activities. Parking is available on-site for easy access to the grounds.
The castle underwent restoration in 1993 with financial support totaling 2,686,000 euros from Europe, the state, and the Moselle General Council.
