Château de Vouzeron

Château de Vouzeron is a castle in Vouzeron that blends Neo-Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles throughout its main structure. The building spreads across multiple levels and combines solid stonework with ornamental interior finishes.

Architect Gabriel-Hippolyte Destailleur designed and built this castle between 1887 and 1893 for Baron Eugene Roger, following his work on Château de Franconville. The residence served as a private noble home for several decades before its purpose changed.

The castle features wooden staircases with carved lion heads and reception rooms decorated with fireplaces inspired by royal design traditions. These details reflect the taste that shaped how the residence was furnished and used.

Access throughout the building is provided by staircases and an elevator system that connect the different levels. Visitors should be prepared for varied floor levels and room layouts that make exploring the castle interesting and require some time to navigate.

In 1937 the Metalworkers Union of Paris purchased the castle and transformed it into a holiday colony for workers and their families. This shift shows how an aristocratic residence became a place for ordinary people to spend their leisure time.
