Château de Castillon

Château de Castillon is a Louis XIII style castle in Arengosse featuring high pavilions with distinctive half-bossage stonework details. A central honor courtyard is enclosed by corner pavilions arranged in a symmetrical composition.

The seigneury of Château de Castillon first appeared in written records in 1494 under the ownership of Robin de Benquet. The property underwent architectural development over the following centuries, with significant modifications added during the 19th century.

The castle displays 17th-century architectural details in its facades and rooflines that visitors can observe today. These protected elements shape the building's outward appearance and reflect the design preferences of its era.

The castle is a private residence, so regular visits are not available to the public. Access is typically granted during Heritage Days events when the owners open the property for guided tours.

In 1653, a notable military event occurred here when Chevalier d'Aubeterre captured the castle and took approximately forty prisoners. This episode shows the strategic importance the location held during that period.
