Château du Repas

The Château du Repas is a castle in Putanges-le-Lac in Normandy with granite walls, balanced facades, and pointed roofs. It is surrounded by moats and features a drawbridge that secures the entrance.

The castle was built in the early 17th century by Nicolas Sallet, a gentleman of the king's chamber, on the foundations of an older manor from the 15th century. This expansion shows the development of the building over two hundred years.

The castle shows Renaissance architectural features in its granite facades and marble entrance hall, reflecting the transition between different building styles of its era. Visitors can see this blend of influences in the visible details throughout the structure.

The castle is private property and requires prior authorization for visits and photography. It is recommended to contact the owners well in advance to clarify conditions before planning a visit.

A distinctive feature is the round staircase tower from the 15th century that was integrated into the rear of the newer structure. This preserved tower comes from the earlier previous building and shows the craftsmanship of those earlier builders.
