Cascade de la Beaume

Cascade de la Beaume is a waterfall in Solignac-sur-Loire that drops about 27 meters over dark volcanic basalt formations, creating a powerful flow of water. The water descends through a narrow gorge into the Ourzie River before eventually joining the Loire system.

The waterfall developed through erosion as the Ourzie River carved its path into the basalt plateau, which formed from ancient volcanic activity in the region millions of years ago. This geological development continues to shape the landscape visible today.

The waterfall can be reached via a hiking trail from the Reynaardon parking area, with the round trip taking about 40 minutes on foot. Sturdy footwear is essential because the terrain is rocky and can be slippery, especially after rain.
