Château d'Arcelot, Neoclassical castle in Arceau, France

The Château d'Arcelot is a neoclassical castle in Arceau with twelve rooms decorated in 18th-century style, featuring a grand staircase, chapel, and yellow room furnished with period pieces. The building blends classical French design with refined interiors that reflect how the nobility of the time lived.

Thomas Dumorey designed this castle in 1765, incorporating neoclassical elements that matched the architectural taste of wealthy French parliamentarians at that time. The construction represented a shift toward the classical forms that shaped French noble residences during this era.

The grand salon displays detailed colored stuccowork and polychrome marble that reveal how wealthy families in 18th-century Burgundy decorated their homes. These rooms show the refined decorative arts and the taste of the period through their finishes and details.

The estate has several event spaces including the Pressoir and Trianon areas that can accommodate different group sizes for various occasions. Visitors should check availability and accessibility when planning their visit to make the most of their time.

The surrounding English-style park covers about 45 hectares and contains seven hectares of ponds alongside rare trees like Atlas cedars and giant sequoias. Jean-Marie Morel designed this landscape to create harmony between the castle and nature.
